The Microscience Microscopy Congress 2015 exhibition opens its doors on Tuesday 30th June, and for three days it will provide free opportunities to boost your knowledge and skills.
If you use or support light, electron or scanning probe microscopes for imaging, diagnosis, measurement, inspection, or anything else, you really should be there.
The international conference sits side-by-side with Europe’s largest exhibition that includes four commercial workshop theatres. You can just turn-up, take a seat, and learn about the latest developments and techniques. It’s a great opportunity to meet face to face with the people that make and sell the equipment and consumables that you use.

Improve your skills for free
The main hall is also home to the Learning Zone, a fully-equipped teaching and learning centre for anyone who wants to improve their skills. And, when we say ‘fully-equipped’ we mean with impartial expert staff as well as a range of microscopes and software products.
The Learning Zone offers a perfect justification for coming to mmc2015. Certificates of attendance are provided to help you to secure your travel funding. It also has its own theatre that hosts a programme of targeted talks.
Talks include –
• Introductory talks on Light Microscopy, STEM, Confocal Microscopy, TEM, EELS, AFM for surface analysis, super-resolution microscopy, and image analysis with ImageJ/Fiji
• Seeing the invisible: a simple introduction to contrast techniques
• Could your SEM Deliver More? Optimising instrument performance
• Principles and pitfalls of biological sample preparation for EM
• Macros: Making ImageJ/Fiji do all the tedious bits
• Molecular resolution imaging and force measurements in physiological environments
• Achieving the most from your SEM
• Cameras for Microscopy
• Dual Beam/FIB SEM in life science
Free Commercial Workshops: What is hot in Microscopy?
The four lecture theatres within the main exhibition hall provide a platform for companies and visitors to come together. The workshops provide the ideal opportunity to pose your questions directly to the people that know.
The programme of workshops runs from 11am on Tuesday 30th June through to lunchtime on Thursday with over 40 exhibitors running sessions that cover an amazing range of subjects. They include -
• A novel method for automating serial sectioning for volume microscopy
• Multiphoton microscopy at its best
• Combining light and electron microscopy for better results
• Real time super resolution image acquisition
• Imaging kinetics at atomic level
• The intelligent core facility management and booking system
• Recent advances in sputtering and carbon coating techniques
• New methods for the interpretation of mappings
Getting there
Manchester is well-served by road, train and air. The venue is close to the centre of the city with good parking and within a short walk of the main railway stations. You may be surprised at how quickly you can be there, making a day visit comfortable.
The table on the right shows travel times and costs if leaving at ~8am on a weekday.

A Date for your diary
The Microscience Microscopy Congress 2015 opens on 29 June. The exhibition runs each day, 30 June – 02 July. Put the dates in your diary and start planning your visit.
We look forward to seeing you there.
