Autoclaves Offer All Round Energy Efficiency

Priorclave, one of Britain’s leading, dedicated manufacturer of laboratory and research grade autoclaves, now offers a wider choice of cylindrical chamber autoclaves owing to the recent introduce of Base and Smart models.

The new ranges comprise front loading machines, benchtop autoclaves of 40 and 60L capacities and floor-standing sterilisers from 100 to 400L. Priorclave also manufactures top-loading laboratory autoclave types with chamber capacities from 60 to 150L. The new Base, Smart and Performance ranges give customers more choice of standard cylindrical chamber laboratory autoclaves.

Cylindrical (or round) chamber autoclaves tend to be supplied with the heating element directly in the actual sterilising chamber.  Also, the inherent strength of a cylindrical design means that the stainless-steel wall is normally thinner.  It means faster heating to the correct sterilising temperature, reducing the overall sterilising processing time. Another significant advantage of this style is that due to thinner chamber walls it weighs less and is more economical to produce. This ultimately reflects in an overall lower cost.

As steam is the sterilising medium, it is vital that items in the chamber come fully into contact with autoclave steam. Another big advantage of the circular profile compared with ‘square’ chambers is that when loaded, there will always remain a free path for air/steam to circulate. It ensures that correct sterilisation takes place.

The new models, Base, Smart and Performance, give customers a greater choice of standard autoclaves. The Base range covers “the basics” - media preparation, waste loads, and sterilising loose instruments, open containers, and labware. These high-efficiency cylindrical chamber front-loading autoclaves are well suited to smaller research, quality assurance and teaching laboratories. The SMART range is intended for industrial, research, and production labs and facilities with greater or more diverse needs. They adeptly handle standard tasks (e.g. media prep, waste loads, labware) but can also produce drier loads and more reliably handle complex loads that tend to trap air.

All steam sterilising process parameters are easily programmed through the Tactrol® 3 controller, allowing for adjustment of temperature and time for simple cycles to fully featured multi-programme operation.  This powerful controller gives unrivalled flexibility, monitoring and management of the process cycle.
