Mixer Solutions for the Food Industry

Mar 10 2015

Lödige will be highlighting the many possibilities of industrial mixing and related process technologies for the food industry at the Anuga FoodTec (Hall 10.1 / C041-C049) by showcasing two machines: the FM 450 batch mixer and the L5 laboratory mixer. Both deploy Lödige's proprietary Ploughshare® industrial mixing process.

In the FM 450 Ploughshare® batch mixer the Ploughshare® shovels rotate close to the walls in a horizontal drum. Their arrangement, peripheral speed and geometrical form are calculated and coordinated to move the mix in three-dimensions counter to the centrifugal force. This mechanically generated moving bed produces protective yet intensive mixing of the components. The entire mix quantity is in constant motion. There are no low-movement or ‘dead’ zones. Isolation of the particles in the fluidised bed allows liquids to be mixed in and facilitates enveloping of the particles. The mixer is also equipped with a manual feed system complete with large feed door.

The L5 Ploughshare® laboratory batch mixer is part of the Lödige range of laboratory devices for small batches: the drum has a volume of 5 litres. This makes the model ideal for the development of products, processes and for small production runs. The mixer is designed as a compact table-top model. It is fully assembled, pre-tested and ready for immediate use. Like the M and N series laboratory batch mixers, this generation of devices is also distinguished by its consistently functional and ergonomic design. The control unit is built into the casing. The deliberate use of proven standard components means that the L5 offers maximum quality at an affordable price. One of the key operational features of the mixer is that the speed of the discharge door is infinitely variable. The drive unit with integrated control is designed to permit the use of 10 and 20 litre mixing tanks in addition to the 5 litre container. These do not have to be purchased from the outset; they can be ordered later if required. This allows flexible working with different test volumes.
