PolyScience Achieves ISO 14001:2004 Certification
May 27 2015
PolyScience, a division of Preston Industries, announced today that the company has received ISO 14001:2004 certification for their Niles, IL headquarters and manufacturing facility. The ISO 14001 standard is a management system that helps organisations take a more pro-active approach to managing environmental issues. PolyScience is also certified under ISO 9001 quality requirements.
According to company president Philip Preston: “PolyScience has long been committed to environmental responsibility. Achieving ISO 14001:2004 certification is just one more step in our journey in ensuring that our activities, products and services are increasingly energy efficient and environmentally friendly. We closely monitor our operations to prevent pollution, reduce our impact on landfills, and promote the recovery and recycling of valuable resources. Perhaps most important, we continually strive to improve our environmental management systems and procedures.”
The ISO 14001:2004 standard monitors actions that impact the environment and document programs that include the training of employees on regulations and work practices to minimise the potential for an environmental incident. As with ISO 9000, companies certified under ISO 14001 are subject to an outside audit on a regular basis to ensure the continuing compliance with the requirements of the standard.
