Complete Solution for Toxigenic C. Difficile Testing

Pro-Lab Diagnostics and Microgen Bioproducts have announced a unique collaboration to provide clinical microbiology laboratories with a C. difficile cytotoxin testing package designed to eliminate the high false positive rates associated with toxin A/B immunoassay screening strategies. Combining Pro- Lab’s quick and convenient Prolisa™ C. difficile GDH (glutamate dehydrogenase) EIA with Microgen’s highly sensitive Hs27 ReadyCells™, the joint offering provides customers with a complete, rapid and convenient C. difficile cytotoxin testing solution.

Pro-Lab Diagnostics’ recently launched Prolisa™ C. difficile GDH EIA is a high quality immunoassay for rapid and accurate screening of patients with suspected Clostridium difficile infection. It achieves excellent sensitivity and specificity thanks to a mouse monoclonal GDH antibody, with a high negative predictive value to quickly and easily rule out C. difficile infection. Designed for rapid primary screening, this simple test is perfectly complemented by Microgen’s gold standard Hs27 ReadyCells cytotoxin test. This convenient cell-based assay uses frozen human foreskin fibroblast (HFF) cells to provide results in just 2 - 6 hours, overcoming the variability of toxin A/B EIA testing while eliminating the need for cell maintenance.

Mark Reed, General Manager of Pro-Lab Diagnostics, commented: “This collaboration brings together two market-leading C. difficile screening products to offer a comprehensive solution which provides laboratories with definitive results in the shortest possible time.”
