Imaging, Measurement, Inspection: mmc2015 has it all

Apr 01 2015

If you use light, electron or scanning probe microscopes for imaging, measurement, inspection, or anything else, you will benefit from a visit to Manchester at the end of June.

The Microscience Microscopy Congress 2015 (mmc2015) includes a huge exhibition, training opportunities, and exhibitor workshops. And guess what - admission and access to all of these is completely FREE. Just turn up, increase your knowledge, and enjoy.

The largest exhibition in Europe
If you are scaling-up, refitting your laboratory, or you just want to experience some microscope envy, the exhibition is packed with everything from high-end electron microscopes to day-to-day consumables. More than 100 companies are represented in the main hall. They go to fantastic lengths to ensure a great show, providing hands-on access to a wide range of fully-functioning kit.

Where else in the world do you have the opportunity to wander from stand to stand and compare equipment? High-profile names in technology such as Carl Zeiss, FEI, Gatan, Hitachi, Jeol, Leica, Olympus and Oxford Instruments bring their latest machines, and there are numerous other established providers in the hall such as Bruker and Tescan.

Free training opportunities
We all know when just a little more knowledge or guidance could make us significantly more efficient and productive. But, sometimes, it can be difficult to justify a training course. mmc2015 solves this problem with its fully-equipped teaching and learning zone for anyone who wants to increase their knowledge or improve their technique. And, when we say 'fully-equipped' we mean with impartial expert staff as well as a range of microscopes and software products.

“We know that a day at the mmc2015 exhibition is a very cost-effective way for an individual to increase their knowledge of what is currently available, and what is due to come online in the near future. However, it can still be difficult to secure the necessary support to attend,” said Leslie Stump of the Royal Microscopical Society who oversees the facility.

“The Learning Zone provides genuine training opportunities for all visitors, and we know that this can be enough to persuade employers to release staff for the day and to provide tangible benefit from attendance.”

There is no need to book in advance. Just check the programme online, turn-up, and learn.

Free meeting: Modern Measurement Techniques for Industry
This free one-day meeting is a great opportunity for you to see how new developments in microscopy and imaging can be applied in an industrial research setting, and how you can ensure that measurements are both accurate and reliable. The main topics include: The role of standards at UKAS – getting results and traceability; Proficiency testing; Calibration and accreditation; Standards; and 3D microscopy.

A date for your diary
A day or more at mmc2015 is an ideal and rewarding way for you and a friend or colleague to acquaint yourselves with what is “now” in microscopy. Put the dates in your diary and start planning your visit – mmc2015, 30 June to 02 July 2015. Click here for furher information.
