Fast Testing for Food Safety and Pharmaceutical Development

Jul 20 2010

IonSense, Inc has introduced the 3+D MicroPlate-96 Screening Plate to accelerate the rapid screening of samples for food safety, pharmaceutical process development, and surface contamination. The new Plate combines high speed chemical analysis by Direct Analysis in Real Time (DART®) mass spectrometry with standard laboratory automation, and is designed for use with the DART 3+D Scanner.

This new platform facilitates the integration of IonSense technology into the work flow of testing and development laboratories. The new Plate provides an independent desorption ionisation region for each of the 96-locations on the standard microtiter format plate. The programmable system can function as a high throughput screening system in rapid analysis mode, or provide more quantitative results using longer exposure periods.

"We wanted to address the increasing demand to speed up the initial screening of samples, and then enable rapid method development based on those screening results," according to Brian Musselman, IonSense President and CEO. "Our customers in pharmaceutical development, food safety analysis, and product testing have asked us to take the next step in automation, and we believe the speed and simplicity of the 3+D MicroPlate-96 Screening Plate with the 3+D Scanner will deliver it."
