Going to the eXTReme - A new Range of Peak Performance Plate Seals
Oct 11 2017
When performing PCR or storing samples for future use, it’s important that your plate seal performs well to ensure you get the very best results from your precious samples.
The eXTReme™ Sealing Films and Foils for PCR and Storage are the newest additions to Excel Scientific’s Pressure Adhesive Sealing Films line, available in the UK from Alpha Laboratories.
eXTReme films offer high performance under extreme conditions. They feature a specially formulated adhesive that provides an excellent seal for all plate materials and is especially well suited for dual component (polycarbonate/ polypropylene) PCR plates.
What’s more, eXTReme Sealing films remove cleanly from plate surfaces without adhesive stringing, residue or contamination. Each sealing film offers sufficient sealing area for all plate types (e.g. flat top and raised-rim). The seal will not extend beyond the top edge of the plate and together with the chamfered corners, eXTReme seals are ideal for robotic handling applications.
An end-tab feature allows for easy placement of film to plate. The seals are certified DNase- and RNase- free.
The eXTReme clear films are ideal for PCR and storage applications to minimise sample evaporation and reduce well-to-well cross contamination. The 50 μm polyester films feature two end-tabs with perforations and will not tear on removal. They can be used within the temperature range -40ºC to +120ºC.
eXTReme FoilSeal™ is made of 48 μm thick aluminium foil to minimise shredding during removal. It can be used for PCR, long-term compound and cold storage, light sensitive assays and robotics to provide excellent barrier properties and minimise sample evaporation. They can be used within the temperature range -80ºC to +120ºC. The foil is conformable to allow visual verification of seal security and a single end-tab features a custom perforation that will not tear during removal. eXTReme FoilSeal is DMSO resistant and pierceable with pipette tips and robotic probes for direct sample retrieval.
