PRESTO – Powerful Temperature Control Application for Laboratories and Industrial Environments

With the PRESTO devices, Julabo offers powerful temperature control solutions in the different laboratory and industrial areas. The temperature control systems for external temperature applications work with a bath fluid with a very broad working temperature range from -92°C to +250°C and are optimised for temperature control applications of jacketed reaction vessels. An external Pt100 sensor connection supports highly precise measurement and control directly in the external application.

PRESTO devices offer high-precision and consistently reliable temperature control also at higher room temperatures of up to +40°C. High heating and cooling capacities ensure reliably short heat-up and cool-down times. The intelligent pump system allows reliable and sage pump capacity as well as automatic adjustment of the pump capacity in response to changes in viscosity values.

The PRESTO units are available as air-cooled or water-cooled units. Air-cooled units do not require water and can be installed anywhere. If you are looking for a flexible solution or if you expect to move the unit frequently, an air-cooled unit will be the best choice. However, it is important to know that air-cooled units slightly elevate the ambient temperature during operation. Water-cooled units must be connected to an existing cooling water line. These units are even quieter and can be virtually enclosed during operation. Robust heat exchangers are installed in the water-cooled PRESTO units. Clogging up the heat exchanger by particles or impure water is virtually impossible.

PRESTO instruments need less thermal bath fluid. Compared to conventional bath circulators, PRESTO uses less active heat exchanger volume. The hot or cold fluid does not come in contact with the surrounding air so a larger temperature range can be covered with only one thermal bath fluid.

Julabo Thermal bath fluids based on silicone are chemically inert substances which do not affect metals like iron, copper, zinc, aluminium, chrome or nickel. Compared to other fluids, JULABO Thermal fluids have an extraordinarily high dielectric strength. When properly stored, the fluids will last for 12 months and longer as they are not susceptible to climatic influences.

Julabo Thermal bath fluids based on water-glycol (monoethyleneglycol with anti-corrosion additives) have excellent thermal characteristics and a low viscosity. In addition, they provide anti-freeze protection, i.e. they can be applied at temperatures below the freezing point of water.

All PRESTO devices feature state-of-the-art display technology for comfortable user guidance. The integrated 5.7-inch colour industrial-grade touch panel can be easily operated with the tip of a finger via the display and shows all important information at a glance. In addition to three preset presentation options, custom views can be defined as well. Using the touchscreen, the displays can be selected in ten different languages. The password administration simplifies device operation by several users and supports upfront parameterisation of routine tasks. User levels with restricted access rights enable quick and secure access to preset values.

Using a network-capable PC, all device functions can be accessed via Ethernet networks. Data can be exchanged via USB port, SD card, or RS232/RS485 combination interface.

The filling opening is easily accessible on the top side of the device and ensures easy and reliable filling with bath fluid. As the PRESTO devices work in broad temperature ranges with the same bath fluid, it must not be replaced during the temperature control process.

The PRESTO devices have a small footprint and can be easily relocated. Starting from the PRESTO A45, the device offers rollers for problem-free relocation by one employee. Fittings, as well as supply and discharged air are arranged on the front and rear only. The result is space-optimised devices that can be installed closely next to one another or directly next to the application.

In the case of a fault, the integrated black box functionality allows quick troubleshooting by the service technician. The Julabo service team is available at all times for questions regarding initial operation and operation of the PRESTO devices.
