EH320 and EH400 are set to become a new favourite
Oct 01 2024
For many years, steam and water jacketed rectangular chamber autoclaves have delivered faster sterilizing processes and drier loads more quickly. Their popularity can be attributed to their overall speed and large capacity rectangular sterilizing chamber. Whilst these autoclaves have, and will always, play a role within very demanding environments, both Priorclave’s EH320 and EH400 Autoclaves are set to take that popularity crown, as laboratories and research institutions increasingly focus on return on investment, decarbonization and sustainability efforts.
Matching your autoclave to the predicted workload is key to the EH320 and EH400’s increasing popularity as non-jacketed autoclaves can greatly outperform their jacketed autoclave equivalent, when continuous usage isn’t required. On average, without any added water-saving features, jacketed autoclaves typically use between 166 litres and 190 litres of water per sterilization cycle, depending on cycle type. The equivalent non-jacketed autoclave uses less than 8 litres of water per cycle, regardless of cycle type. On an annual basis, a cylindrical-vessel front-loading autoclave, such as Priorclave's EH400-SMART 400 Litre autoclave can be expected to use a sixth or less water and energy when compared to an almost identical rectangular chamber model—that’s added savings on top of the already lower purchase price. By eliminating corners from within the chamber, the cylindrical chamber of the EH400 and EH320 benefit from improved steam circulation, preventing cold pockets and ensuring complete sterilization without excessive cycle times or chronic failed loads.
Both the EH400 SMART and EH320 SMART autoclaves feature Priorclave’s Tactrol®3 process controller, which ensures that everything from simple cycles to fully featured multi-program sterilizing operations with printed records can be achieved at the press of a button. Settings and programming of functions are accessed through a keypad and are displayed on the high-resolution LCD panel, the display is purposely not a touchscreen, this has significant advantages in the laboratory since adjustments can be made and processes checked without the need to remove protective gloves.
As with all of Priorclave’s autoclaves, exterior surfaces feature an anti-microbial finish which is highly effective at providing life-long control of harmful bacteria and protecting against the threat of cross-contamination. This coating reduces bacterial growth by up to 99.99% and assists in extending the already long life of the autoclave.
Correctly pairing the right type of autoclave with your predicted workload is guaranteed to save you time, water, electricity and money! Priorclave’s online Autoclave Finder will assist you in this endeavour, or you can call to speak to a member of staff for advice.
