Bringing colour to your laboratory: the green future of liquid handling

Jan 05 2021

Starlab, the manufacturer of laboratory consumables and equipment is bringing colour into laboratories with its new identity. Like the world of science, Starlab’s new colours can be put together in a myriad of combinations. The new illustrations are ever-changing, like nature itself. The new design exudes fun and passion. “Passionate for science” is Starlab's claim for the future and it is the basis for their product development, their customer service and everything Starlab does. It stands for continually improving solutions, making them more sustainable and supporting those who work on the progress of mankind.

Starlab is “Passionate for products”
When you take one step forward in the lab, you should not have to take two steps back where environmental protection is concerned. Only when scientific progress is also sustainable, will it unfold long-term benefits for all of us in climate issues.

That is why Starlab has been thinking about sustainability for some time, with long-term corporate planning and durable products. The truth is however that we all still have a long way to go towards a fully sustainable laboratory, but Starlab has already started.

Starlab has been saving plastic laboratory waste with their TipOne® pipette tip system for over 20 years. Launched in 1998, TipOne® was the first tip system that offered a refill that was quick and easy to use. Being one complete, interchangeable system, TipOne® tip racks were designed to be reused again and again with the refill to reduce plastic waste.

A redesign of the system five years ago provided further environmental benefits. Starting with the tips, the new generation of TipOne® tips take up to 40% less plastic to produce compared to older equivalents. And that’s without compromising on tip quality or fit. Use with Starlab’s stylish ErgoOne® pipettes for the perfect pipetting partnership; although TipOne® pipette tips are universal and designed to fit all popular pipettes without any loss of accuracy or precision.

So, there is one colour that will play an even more prominent role at Starlab in the future as sustainability issues become increasingly important in today’s laboratories, and that is the colour green. Although disposable materials remain indispensable in many areas, a good deal of rethinking on the waste generated by lab has set in and customers are hungry for greener solutions. Starlab continually works on improving the environmental footprint of their products to provide sustainable solutions to modern, eco-friendly labs.
