The celebrations opened with a champagne reception for the ribbon cutting. David Smith, Specac's Managing Director, addressed the crowd, alongside Stephen Phipson CBE, Make UK's CEO, and officially opened the cutting-edge facility for business.

Various instruments, from the new Apex XRF Die, Atmos FTIR gas cell, Quest ATR and Pearl liquid cell were demonstrated. At all times, staff were available to discuss the equipment and techniques employed in the various laboratories used to create world-leading equipment such as the Pearl liquid cell and Atlas hydraulic presses.
