SEMs Provide Flexibility for High or Low Vacuum Operation

Apr 10 2015

Tescan demonstrated its VEGA3 LM, a fully PC controlled SEM with conventional tungsten heated cathode intended both for high vacuum as well as for low vacuum operations. Outstanding optical properties, flicker-free digital image with super clarity, sophisticated user-friendly software for microscope control and image capturing using Windows™ platform, standard formats of stored images, easy image management, processing and measurements, automatic setup of the microscope and other automated operations. The VEGA3 LMH offers large chamber with extended motorised manipulator operating at high vacuum suitable for wide range of applications where conductive materials are investigated. The VEGA3 LMU is a variable pressure SEM that supplements all the advantages of the high vacuum model with an extended facility for low-vacuum operations, enabling the investigation of non-conductive specimens in their natural, uncoated state.

Amongst other instruments on show was the MIRA 3 LM, a fully PC controlled FE SEM intended for both high vacuum as well as for low vacuum operations. With features similar to the VEGA range, this new generation of MIRA field emission scanning electron microscopes provides users with advantages such as improved high-performance electronics for faster image acquisition, an ultra-fast scanning system with compensation for static and dynamic image aberrations or built-in scripting for user-defined applications, all the while maintaining the best price to performance ratio. Its excellent resolution at high beam currents has proved to be advantageous for analytical applications such as EBSD,WDX, etc, said the company. MIRA3 field emission scanning electron microscopes are manufactured in configurations with LM, XM and GM chambers.
