New bovine blood pocket meter
Oct 16 2020
HORIBA Instruments introduced the flat-glass sensor technology in 1987 with the launch of the CARDY twin meters. A distinct advantage of the flat-glass sensor is the small sample volume requirement, which led to the development of the compact meters. As the sensor only requires 50 – 100 µL of sample to take measurements, not only large quantity of samples and calibration standards are saved but also the measurement costs are reduced, making the meters cost-effective and indispensable, especially for precious samples analyses.
With the CARDY twin meters riding high in the market, HORIBA launched the LAQUAtwin pocket meters in 1990, and made significant improvements in 2017. The LAQUAtwin series can measure 8 water quality parameters - pH, conductivity, total dissolved solids (TDS), salinity, and ion concentrations of sodium, potassium, nitrate / nitrate-nitrogen, and calcium. Available in vibrant colors, the meters continue to feature flat sensor technology and also offer a variety of sampling techniques which translate to the myriad of applications in which they can be used.
The newest addition is the LAQUAtwin Ca-11C bovine blood iCa pocket meter launched in mid-2020. The meter is developed for easy and quick ionized calcium measurement in bovine blood samples on-farm. Like the other LAQUAtwin pocket meters, the Ca-11C meter has IP67 water & dustproof housing, backlit digital LCD, and replaceable sensor. It is packaged in a rugged carrying case together with two calibration solutions that have electrolyte composition similar to blood, sensor cleaning solution, and wash bottle.
