ICenta Under Pressure... Subsea Hydraulic Valve Flow Monitoring

Mar 20 2019

iCenta provides a range of solutions to the Oil and Gas Industry, both Upstream and Downstream. In this instance iCenta replaced a number of existing flow meters on an IWOCS (installation and Workover Control System) with the IC- LTM turbine flow meter.

With the successful start-up of the world's first full-field subsea separation, boosting and injection system on the Statoil Hydro-operated Tordis field in the North Sea over a decade ago in 2007, much has changed. With production equipment located on the seabed rather than on a fixed or floating platform, subsea processing provides a less expensive solution for a myriad of offshore environments and hard to access locations.

Management of subsea equipment requires the use of an Intervention and Workover Control System (IWOCS). An IWOCS is a temporary control system used to commission, workover, troubleshoot, or decommission subsea wells. Specialised equipment such as umbilical reels, hydraulic power units (HPUs), and winches are used to enable hydraulic and electrical control of subsea trees and related hardware.

It's within this application that accurate subsea valve flow monitoring is required to control fluids to the subsea system via Umbilical’s ad risers. An increasingly popular product within this sector is the Metri IC-LTM Turbine Meter, and its versatile configuration.

The Metri IC-LTM Turbine Meter is manufactured specifically to cope with this high-pressure environment by use of high yield strength component materials and specific industry standard threads, such as NPT or Autoclave®.

Calibrated to specific viscosities the LTM is an industrial in-line turbine flow meter that provides an accurate and reliable measurement in a range of extreme pressure and temperature applications.

The LTM is compatible with a number of digital displays and monitoring systems both from Metri and Fluidwell. Various product options from both manufacturers can be combined to provide a range of solutions, to include ATEX rated, EEx ia Ex d and PED.

Metri IC-LTM Turbine Flow Meter Features include:
