Recent developments in mercury, arsenic, selenium and antimony measurement on show at Pittcon

Apr 06 2009

At the 2009 Pittsburgh Exhibition and Conference on Analytical Chemistry, P S Analytical (UK) will be demonstrating its recent developments in the measurement of mercury, arsenic, selenium and antimony on Stand 2560. The P S Analytical product range encompasses both laboratory and process control systems. Whilst P S Analytical’s primary focus relates to mercury measurements the P S Analytical Excalibur analyser has widened the range of analytes to include the hydride forming elements.

P S Analytical’s expertise is in providing analytical solutions to provide precise, reliable measurements in difficult matrices and covers all aspects of the analytical cycle from sampling itself through to the measurement stage. Where online measurements are required P S Analytical provides the complete solution from sampling manifold through to measurements. The P S Analytical 10.536 Cavkit Calibration device, (recently awarded the CITAC 2008 award for the most important paper on metrology in Chemistry prize1) provides a valuable aid to checking the integrity of the systems and the validity of the measurements obtained.

Recently P S Analytical has introduced process systems for the measurement of mercury in liquid hydrocarbons and also for crematoria exhaust systems. In many of these applications the PSA Mercury CEM systems can both monitor the mercury removal systems and provide the necessary control measurements to cover legislative requirements on emissions control.

P S Analytical continues to work with legislators, energy providers and universities to provide “fit for purpose mercury measurement systems”. P S Analytical has also focussed research activity on the determination of the speciation profiles for mercury both using gas and liquid chromatography. Information on these areas of research will be presented at the conference.
