Environmental engineering and water expert MWH has signed an agreement with leading international water technology company HACH LANGE, to jointly market a real time control system to the UK water industry.

Commenting on the agreement, which was signed at MWH`s High Wycombe office, David Smith said: "This innovative real time control system can be readily installed on existing or new treatment works, allowing reduction of energy costs, so making substantial savings on operational expenditure – with the consequent reduction in carbon footprint that benefits us all."

Darin Stell of HACH LANGE said: "We see MWH and HACH LANGE as a perfect fit to promote real time control to water company clients in the UK. We use the most advanced technology currently available to provide the optimum cost and carbon reduction solutions for the water industry and are looking forward to offering our joint expertise across the UK."

Real time control produces significant carbon reduction, an improved water environment through increased compliance, and a reduction in operating costs of up to 25% as the plant reacts instantly to changes in the influent, so operating at peak efficiency.

The final word goes to David Smith: "We already have interest in the technology from a number of water companies – and ultimately as costs fall, the technology will become cost effective for smaller treatment plants, further expanding the market and leading to significant reductions in energy costs and carbon emissions across the whole of the UK water industry."
