Qlucore, a developer of bioinformatics software, has announced an agreement with SinoGenoMax, one of the largest genomicsbased biotech companies in China. Qlucore's software, called Qlucore Omics Explorer, will provide researchers working within the Chinese biotechnology sector with a world leading data analysis tool that is extremely powerful and yet easy to use. "The work  currently being undertaken at SinoGenoMax includes a number of very exciting research projects. We believe that the combination of SinoGenoMax’s competence and local market presence with our software will help researchers to uncover some truly exceptional  results," said Carl-Johan Ivarsson, CEO, Qlucore. SinoGenoMax participated in the International Human Genome Sequencing  Project and has been closely involved in several major genome-related research projects such as pathogenic microorganism sequencing projects, Chinese population single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping project, and other disease genome research projects.

“There is significant demand for truly innovative biotechnology solutions in China right now, and so we are delighted to bring Qlucore’s software to a whole new generation of scientists and researchers.” said Patrick Lee, President, SinoGenoMax. As part of its Five-Year Plan for developing its economy between 2011 and 2015, China declared biotech to be one of seven strategic emerging industries that the country wants to cultivate over the next decade. A recent report issued by RNCOS, the market research and information analysis firm, has already projected a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 16% for the Asia-Pacific biotech market during 2010 – 2012, with the Chinese biotech market alone forecasted to grow at a CAGR of around 23% during these same years.
