Morning and afternoon pre-conference workshops can now be added to visitors’ schedules, including sessions covering some of the latest tips and techniques in AFM and SPM, taking place on Monday July 3.

'Going Beyond Optical Microscopy with AFM' is being run by Bruker UK Ltd, and the afternoon session, titled 'Bio-SPM - Correlative AFM for Life Science' is being run by Park Systems UK. Both companies are also exhibiting at mmc2023.

Confirmed sessions include:

ImageJ Workshop: Scientific Organiser: Kees Straatman

ImageJ is a powerful public domain image processing and analysis program written in Java, freely available for download from the internet. Fiji is an ImageJ distribution focussed on the visualisation and analysis of microscope images in 2D, 3D, 4D and 5D.

The workshop gives a brief introduction on the use of ImageJ/Fiji and will account for all learning styles as a mix of lectures, demonstrations and hands-on sessions.

EMAG Workshop - Introduction to python for electron microscopists: Scientific Organiser: Thomas Slater

This workshop is aimed at researchers in electron microscopy who have no or little experience in coding, but would like to learn how to use the python programming language to acquire and analyse their data. We will guide participants through the basics off python, including loading and displaying images from the electron microscope, with the aim to cover analysis of TEM and STEM images.

More about the workshops - including a rundown of planned talks and demonstrations – can be found on the mmc2023 website. The workshops can be added to your mmc2023 schedule when registering - or you can add them to your existing booking.
