Pittcon 2024: Celebrating 75 years of empowering innovations

Feb 22 2024

Join the 75th edition of Pittcon from February 24-29, 2024, at the San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, USA. This highly anticipated event brings together professionals for invaluable in-person collaboration, showcasing the latest breakthroughs in analytical research, scientific instrumentation, and technology to address diverse research challenges.

Pittcon is a vibrant international conference and trade show dedicated to the field of laboratory science. It serves as a premier platform for unveiling scientific innovations in laboratory equipment, technology, and supplies. Beyond its exhibition, Pittcon offers an educational platform, presenting a multitude of growth opportunities in the sciences. With over 1,100 technical and networking sessions, as well as an expansive exposition featuring around 500 global exhibiting companies, Pittcon promises a fulfilling experience for all attendees.

Professor Omowunmi (Wunmi) Sadik, the Distinguished Professor and Director of The BioSMART Center at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), has been selected to deliver the prestigious 2024 Wallace H. Coulter Lecture. With a distinguished career that includes appointments at Harvard University, Cornell University, the EPA, and the Naval Research Laboratory, Professor Sadik has made significant contributions to the field. She has published over 200 peer-reviewed works, 400 invited lectures, and conference contributions.

In her lecture titled ‘Sustainable Nanomaterials for Sensing Human Health and the Environment,’ Professor Sadik will share insights into her group's work, particularly their focus on understanding interfaces, especially the electrochemical interface. This knowledge is leveraged to drive innovative bio (analytical) sensor technologies aimed at enhancing human health and environmental outcomes.

The lecture is scheduled to take place at Pittcon 2024 on Sunday, 25 February at 5:00 pm.

The 2024 topic of the James L. Waters Symposium is ‘Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy’. Leading experts will discuss the progression, practical implementation, and latest innovations in instrumentation and its practical applications.

The outstanding panel of speakers who will be presenting at the Pittcon 2024 Waters Symposium includes: Shigeru Amemiya, University of Pittsburgh; Jiyeon Kim, University of Rhode Island; Janine Mauzeroll, McGill University; Joaquin Rodriguez, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; Michael Mirkin, CUNY, Queens College.

This session will take place during Pittcon on Monday, 26 February at 1:30-4.40 pm.

The 2024 Short Courses will take place from Saturday 24 – Wednesday 28 February. With over 60 options to choose from and catering to different skill levels - beginner, intermediate, and advanced - these courses can last anywhere from half a day to one full day. They cover a diverse range of analytical topics including bioanalytics, cannabis, energy, enviroscience, food science, forensics, industry, life sciences, nanotechnology, materials science, pharmaceuticals, and many more. Additionally, there are courses available on general lab functions such as industrial hygiene and safety, data management and data analysis, regulatory compliance and validation.
