New application notes available for the Milestone Ethos X include the extraction of Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), dioxins and Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) from samples such as soil and sediment. The specifically designed fastEX24 rotor can extract 24 samples simultaneously within 40 minutes and is suitable for US EPA method 3546 and ASTM D5765-05.

In addition, new larger low-cost disposable glass vials gives the system even greater flexibility. The 100ml vials are suitable for sample sizes up to 30g in weight, while the disposable nature means there is no memory effect and no cleaning required.

Extraction is possible using non-polar solvents with fast and homogenous heating using Weflon shields that ensures complete recovery of the target compounds with high reproducibility. Low solvent consumption coupled with increased productivity greatly reduces the running costs.
