Liquid handling solution for high-volume magnetic bead PCR purification

Integra Biosciences has expanded its molecular biology product line with the launch of MAGFLO™ magnetic beads and specialised magnetic separation modules for bead clean-up. This new setup, in conjunction with advanced pipetting platforms and deep well plates capable of handling large liquid volumes, facilitates the efficient processing of up to 96 nucleic acid samples in parallel, significantly enhancing scalability for high-volume PCR purification.

High-volume PCR purification is essential for obtaining concentrated DNA quantities for various downstream applications, including cloning, sequencing, hybridisation, and functional studies, as well as for long-term nucleic acid storage. This process allows for the pooling of multiple PCR products into a single sample of up to 200 µl, simplifying sample management while ensuring optimal nucleic acid recovery.

The newly launched MAGFLO PCR magnetic beads seamlessly integrate with Integra’s MAG module, streamlining bead collection. The MAG module features an interchangeable magnetic array that accommodates different labware types, including an adapter for deep well plates, specifically designed to optimise large-volume PCR purification. This configuration allows for efficient bead collection from 96 samples with volumes up to 2.2 ml, enhancing both throughput and volume scalability.

Additionally, Integra provides a range of benchtop liquid handling platforms to automate manual pipetting tasks. Combining the magnetic bead technology with a VIAFLO 96 or VIAFLO 384 handheld electronic pipette, or the ASSIST PLUS pipetting robot, ensures reliable and cost-effective nucleic acid clean-up with minimal hands-on effort. This comprehensive suite of equipment delivers a streamlined and consistent solution for PCR purification, effectively addressing the needs of high-throughput workflows.
