The Milestone PYRO microwave ashing system has a huge range of potential applications, such as conventional ashing, sulphated ashing, loss on ignition (LOI), residue on ignition (ROI), fusion and all high-temperature reactions under controlled conditions.

Ashing times can be reduced by up to 95% from hours to minutes using standard crucibles. This time-saving ability offers a huge benefit to the laboratory by eliminating the bottleneck associated with conventional muffles. If a laboratory is handling large numbers of samples, then up to 24 can be processed at the same time, again, saving time and reducing labour.

Other benefits include an integral exhaust system with no loss of heat to the laboratory plus removes odours from the laboratory including corrosive fumes from sulphate ashing that are also neutralised with a scrubber system thereby eliminating exposure to the operator to sulphuric acid fumes.

Even temperature distribution across the muffle eliminates cold spots and ensures reproducible ashing across all crucibles. The system provides auto-calculation of the results through interfacing with an analytical balance and can additionally export the ashing profile in Excel or pdf format.
