Significant Investment for product perfection

Investment enhances product quality at Don Whitley Scientific

Don Whitley Scientific (DWS) has recently made a substantial investment in state-of-the-art measuring equipment to elevate its product quality and manufacturing capabilities. The addition of a high-precision coordinate measuring machine (CMM) by LK Metrology, renowned as the best in the industry, brings precise measurements down to 1.3 microns. This precision ensures that every component, from the tiniest screw to the smallest washer, fits flawlessly, guaranteeing the longevity and reliability of Whitley Workstations.

The newly implemented CMM technology has also ushered DWS into the digital age, replacing paper schematics with digital files. This transition minimises the potential for human error during manufacturing and provides a foundation of highly accurate data for all production tasks.

Fergus Murray, Product Engineering Director at DWS, emphasised their dedication to product quality, stating: “When we say our products are quality, we really mean that - and do everything to ensure we can stand by that claim. This includes significant investment over the last 10 years to create self-sufficiency in the manufacture of many of the small parts that make up Whitley products.

“We can now better regulate the quality and precision of even the smallest assemblies that make up what we know is an important piece of equipment in a laboratory – equipment that needs to run 24/7.”

Despite the challenges posed by Brexit and the COVID-19 pandemic, DWS attributes its continued success to a robust quality management system. The company remains committed to manufacturing laboratory products, servicing equipment, and conducting calibration and validation work.
