High Performance Microplates for Filtration Applications
Jun 08 2023
Porvair Sciences’ range of high-performance microplates is designed to meet a wide array of filtration needs. These microplates are optimised to deliver exceptional performance and versatility in various scientific research applications, particularly in the removal of particulate matter and debris from liquids. By utilising a filter plate, assays can effectively analyse either the filtrate or the particulate matter, depending on the specific application.
The filtration plates offered by Porvair Sciences are available in three well formats: 48-, 96-, and 384-well, providing options that cater to different throughput requirements. A selection of filtration materials, including glass fibre, nylon, PVDF, and polyethylene is available, ensuring compatibility with various filtration applications. The well volumes range from 350 µl to 5 ml, accommodating a broad range of sample sizes. Each type of filter plate is meticulously engineered to optimise performance in specific applications such as cell harvesting, DNA separations, binding studies, plasmid isolation, general filtration, and sample clean-up.
A notable feature of these microplates is the presence of an individual drainage spout for each well. This design ensures 100% sample transfer while eliminating the risk of crossover contamination. Manufactured from ultra-pure grade polypropylene or polystyrene, all filtration plates effectively minimise the presence of extractables and leachables when used with common solvents, thereby safeguarding the integrity of the filtered samples.
