PlasmaQuant® MS – Interference Management with Integrated Collision Reaction Cell (iCRC)
Mar 25 2015
With the introduction of the PlasmaQuant® MS, Analytik Jena has extended its portfolio with an ICP-MS.
The PlasmaQuant® MS, incorporates an integrated Collision-Reaction-Cell. With this innovative interference management system, helium (He) and hydrogen (H2) gases are injected into the tip of the skimmer cone. In this high pressure region, collisions and reactions are promoted to effectively remove troublesome spectroscopic interferences formed by the argon plasma and sample matrix. Switching between He, H2 and non-gas modes is extremely quick due to the smaller cell zone and signals stabilise within a few seconds. As the kinetic energy of interfering ions is reduced by collisions within the iCRC, they are easily removed by the ReflexION ion mirror through Kinetic Energy Discrimination (KED).
The iCRC is also fitted with the exclusive BOOST technology which increases ion transmission efficiency when using iCRC gas mode. The expected loss of sensitivity on non-interfered analytes is returned without having to remove the collision-reaction gas. This means no compromise on detection limits when running a gas-mode only method. The iCRC requires no additional maintenance and handles any sample matrix including high salt-samples, strong acids and organic solvents.
