Abstract submission is open for EBSD 2021, taking place virtually on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 April, from 1pm – 5.30pm. Scientific organisers are Dr Dikai Guan, Electron Microscope Research Experimental Officer, Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Sheffield University; and Professor Brad Wynne, Research Director at the Advanced Forming Research Centre at the University of Strathclyde.
The annual gathering aims to bring together the Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) community, highlighting the latest development in techniques and applications. Topics are expected to include geoscience, materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, plus emerging applications from the biological communities.
Talks will likely include state-of-the-art developments in instrumentation, new software algorithms, and new techniques developments, as well as the use of EBSD, transmission Kikuchi diffraction, electron channelling contrast imaging (ECCI) and related microscopy modalities. Additionally, we anticipate hearing applications driven talks which engage these approaches to reveal new insight into the microstructure of materials systems in emerging scientific applications and industrial challenges, particularly the use of EBSD data in Industry 4.0.
Abstracts for both oral and poster presentations are being invited until Thursday 18 March. You will be notified if your abstract has been accepted for an oral or poster presentation a couple of weeks after the deadline. If your abstract has been accepted for a poster presentation we will ask you to submit a pdf poster before the meeting.
