GE Healthcare has extended its AxiChrom™ column platform with the addition of low-cost single-use plastic bed supports designed specifically for use in potentially corrosive conditions.

These bed supports add extra convenience when changing to new campaigns in multi-purpose facilities. AxiChrom’s novel column tube swing-out makes exchange of bed support fast and easy, even for larger columns.

Many biopharmaceutical processes involve steps, which contain high chloride concentrations at low pH, creating a potentially corrosive environment more suited to nonmetallic materials.

Plastic bed supports are now available for use with all AxiChrom columns and have the same level of regulatory compliance as the columns themselves, meeting the requirements of USP Class VI as described in USP Biological Reactivity Tests In Vivo <88> and 21 CFR Part 177. The supports are in compliance with EMEA/410/01 Rev.2 or free from animal-derived components.

AxiChrom columns simplify column handling at all scales from process development to full-scale production. Through its three key features - Intelligent Packing, intuitive handling, and predictable scale-up - AxiChrom columns introduce lean-enabling practices that make process chromatography easier, safer, and more efficient.
