PerkinElmer’s new AxION™ Mass Spectrometry platform delivers rapid and accurate mass spectral analysis to ensure safe water, pharmaceutical and food products. AxION system’s speed and specificity enable unambiguous identification and quantification of both known and unexpected compounds, producing full characterisation of a sample. Critical contamination levels can be determined across a broad range of samples including environmental soil and water, pharmaceutical ingredients and pesticide residues in food products.

Dusty Tenney, president, Analytical Science and Laboratory Services, PerkinElmer commented: “In designing our new AxION MS hardware and software, our goal was to provide customers with the highest levels of confidence in their results. The AxION MS platform delivers unambiguous determination of complex molecules across a wide dynamic range, enabling contaminants and impurities to be readily identified.”

The AxION platform provides flexibility and facilitates tailored workflows through: AxION 2 Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (TOF-MS) instrument with a choice of patented ion sources, including dual probe Ultraspray™ 2 ESI or Field-Free Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Ionisation (APCI), with snap-in probes to enhance productivity and reduce cross contamination; AxION Solo™ software – post processing application for single/multiple target analysis, to identify and quantify known substances in a series of samples; AxION XPO™ software - user-definable, colour-coded results view, to allow reviewing of high sample volumes at a glance; and AxION eDoor™ software for Open Access environments. The intuitive interface guides users through login, method selection and sample setup in a network environment, with simple results delivery by email, while providing administrators full visibility on instruments’ activity.
