LAUDA presents the new Universa product line and digital innovations

04 Mar, 2026

LAUDA DR. R. WOBSER GMBH & CO. KG celebrates its 70th anniversary this year and presents itself at analytica 2026 as the innovative world market leader for precise temperature control solutions. Under the motto "LAUDA – The Home of Innovation. Since 1956," the family-owned company showcases three central themes from March 24 to 27 in Munich: the new modular LAUDA Universa product line, comprehensive digitalisation solutions, and new service offerings for maximum availability.

Universa at the Centre – Modular, Sustainable, Digital, and Powerful

The centrepiece is the new LAUDA Universa product line, a completely redesigned generation of innovative bath circulation thermostats combining advanced technology with environmentally friendly refrigeration. LAUDA presents innovations across all three performance classes for the first time: Universa ECO U 8 E as a cost-effective entry-level unit with an 8-litre bath, Universa PRO as both immersion thermostat and U 420 P with a 4-litre bath for standard applications, and Universa MAX U 845 M (8-litre bath) plus Universa MAX U 2040 M with calibration insert (20-litre bath) for demanding applications.

The product line is based on four pillars: modularity, performance, connectivity, and sustainability. Thanks to the modular design, baths, control heads, and refrigeration units can be flexibly combined and expanded later. With a temperature range from -90 to 300 °C temperature stability up to ±0.01 K, heating capacities up to 3.6 kW, and cooling capacities up to 1.6 kW, Universa thermostats suit numerous applications in research, science, and industry.

"The LAUDA Universa product line stands in the proud tradition of the world's first universal thermostat, which my grandfather and company founder Dr. Rudolf Wobser developed in 1949," says Dr. Gunther Wobser, CEO at LAUDA. “With the new Universa generation, we bring this innovation into the present and once again shape the future of temperature control.”

Digitalisation and AI-Readiness

All Universa thermostats feature standard USB, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi interfaces for easy integration into laboratory systems. The LAUDA Command App enables wireless remote control via smartphones, tablets, or PCs, allowing users to analyse temperature profiles, manage programmes, and adjust settings from any location.

Universa PRO and MAX variants can be expanded with up to eleven interface modules, from analogue through EtherCAT to OPC/UA. Connection to LAUDA.LIVE Services cloud solution enables remote maintenance, monitoring, and data acquisition. The future-proof architecture supports AI-powered optimisations currently being developed in university partnerships.

Enhanced Service and Portfolio Highlights

LAUDA introduces an AI-powered chat and voice assistant trained on the Universa, Integral, Variocool, and PRO product lines (for now), ensuring 24/7 service availability for operational questions, troubleshooting, and technical data.

Additional highlights include LAUDA Mobifreeze, the world's first mobile, battery-powered ultra-low temperature chest freezer enabling grid-independent operation for up to 4 h at temperatures down to -86 °C. For the first time, all exhibited devices use natural refrigerants, meeting current and future sustainability requirements.

LAUDA will present its innovations at analytica 2026 from March 24 to 27 in Munich, Hall B1, Booth 504.
