LaboraTree Planting Scheme Gets Greener
Oct 07 2022
LaboraTree is Alpha Laboratories’ scheme to plant trees and make a sustainable contribution to the environment as part of its sustainability strategy. Since 2011, over 2400 trees have been planted by LaboraTree members, helping to consume CO2, clean up pollution, generate oxygen and provide vital habitats for wildlife.
The scheme includes Fastrak® pipette tip refills and also ZAP™ Premier filter tips, both of which are made using 30% power from solar panels. The products work together to help reduce waste in your laboratory as the re-usable ZAP Premier Filter Tip racks can be re-filled with Fastrak Tips. Using both together is a great eco-friendly solution with the bonus of planting trees through Alpha Lab’s simple to use LaboraTree program, just by collecting the tokens on the boxes.
Through tree planting partners like The Woodland Trust and EFORESTS, Alpha Laboratories plant trees in UK based community woodlands, nature reserves and community farms, to ensure they are planted and maintained properly, so they live to maturity.
This year has seen the Laboratree scheme relaunch with a fresh new look and an even greater environmental benefit. Now the number of tokens required to qualify for each tree planted has been halved. This means that members can now contribute twice as many trees as before, for the same number of pipette tips used.
You can find out how the scheme works and view the tree planting progress on the Alpha Laboratories website.
