High-Capacity Rotor Extends Range of Tabletop Ultracentrifuge

Jul 27 2011

The MLA-50 High-Capacity Rotor for the Optima MAX-XP Tabletop Ultracentrifuge from Beckman Coulter, Inc offers an industry-leading 194mL capacity that allows more sample to be processed per run. The new aluminum rotor combines with the centrifuge and easy-to-seal tubes to provide highly efficient operation.

Exclusive g-Max tubes adapt small samples to the larger MLA-50 without sacrificing the g-force generated by the rotor, shortening separation time by up to 20%. The rotor also accepts OptiSeal tubes, which do not require tools, heat or closure verification and have a wide neck that makes it easy to load and unload samples without puncturing the tube. Quick-Seal tubes, which seal with a simple, hand-held tool and do not incorporate plugs or O-rings, can also be used.

The MLA-50 rotor runs exclusively on Beckman Coulter’s Optima MAX-XP Tabletop Ultracentrifuge, providing quiet performance, a customisable interface supporting multiple users, a compact footprint and instant, context-sensitive on-board help. Nine languages — including Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese and simplified Chinese — are available via menu selection.

“The MLA-50 rotor reflects the Beckman Coulter commitment to developing products that enhance productivity and lab performance for our customers,” said Randy Pawlovich, Strategic Marketing Manager for the Beckman Coulter ultracentrifuge product line. “As a worldwide leader in centrifugation, we’re able to offer researchers an extensive catalogue featuring products to meet virtually all centrifugation requirements.”

The Optima MAX-XP Tabletop Ultracentrifuge is one of the most flexible benchtop ultracentrifuges; and the versatile platform ― on which labware, rotors and centrifuges are manufactured and tested as an integrated system — ensures optimal performance and safety.
