Multi-functional Optical Contact Angle Measurement Equipment for Low Pressure Atmosphere and High Temperature Applications

DataPhysics Instruments has developed a video-based optical contact angle measuring system, the OCA 25-HTV 1800, for the analysis of material properties at high temperature levels of up to 1800°C and under vacuum down to 10-50mbar or inert gas atmosphere respectively. Being able to determine contact angles and the wetting behaviour under low pressure atmosphere and high temperature at the same time offers new unique possibilities in high sophisticated material development, for instance, aeronautics or deep sea applications. In addition, the OCA25-HTV 1800 can be used at room temperature to feature all standard measurements, such as surface free energies and interfacial tension. The electronics are controlled via software or externally by the hardware itself. The special optical measuring system with a zoom extender allows users to adjust the observation angle and focus very precisely. The LED-light with manual and software controlled intensity includes automatic temperature drift compensation. The whole system can be easily transported on a trolley cart.
