Unmatched Aerosol Protection
Mar 29 2007
With conventional single filter layers the pipette is not fully protected from contamination by sample and aerosols. However, ep Dualfilter T.I.P.S. are the first to contain two layers of flexible material that also permits complete recovery of samples. The white layer facing the sample retains drops, splashes and aerosols, while the distinctive blue layer forms a highly effective double barrier which reliably binds biomolecules. In a blind trial at the Fraunhofer Institute for Toxicology and Experimental Medicine (ITEM) this patent-pending technology was shown to outperform filter tips from all five other manufacturers tested, by a factor of up to 677 in relation to particle permeability and 600 in relation to penetration rate of biomolecules.
According to Monika Scheidel, Eppendorf Product Manager, this new product will be of particular benefit in the preparation of PCR and qPCR reactions: ?Using ep Dualfilter T.I.P.S. free of PCR inhibitors, human DNA and Dnase and RNase, eliminates the risk of contamination and therefore the need to expend additional time and expense in repeating experiments. Researchers can get high quality, reproducible results every time. ep Dualfilter T.I.P.S. are ideal for liquid handling applications in fields such as biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular diagnostics, forensic science and pharmaceutical research, including ?hot labs' handling isotopes and radionucleotides.'
Available in ten sizes from 0.1 µl to 10 ml, ep Dualfilter T.I.P.S. are packaged in ready-to-use colour-coded racks and supplied sterile, Eppendorf PCR clean and pyrogen-free. ep Dualfilter T.I.P.S. are compatible with other manufacturers' pipettes, and used in conjunction with Eppendorf pipettes they ensure a leak-proof seal and minimum attachment and ejection forces. Air flow rate through the dual filter is the same as for single-layer filters rapid pipetting is simply much safer and the sample is not absorbed or lost in the filter.
