Shimadzu has held a leading position in materials testing technology over the past 90 years. In addition to static and dynamic universal testing machines, the extensive product line includes micro- and ultra-micro hardness testers, particle size measuring instruments, capillary rheometers, high-speed cameras as well as precision and analytical balances.

The 50th anniversary of Shimadzu’s universal testing machines is the occasion for Shimadzu to present its new AG-X universal testing machine with novel functions such as high-speed measurements up to 12,000 mm/s. The instrument is suitable for quality assurance in many industries as well as for testing of synthetic materials, metals and other components in research and development.

The AG-X is supported by a high-performance control unit enabling a data acquisition rate of up to 300 kHz. With the newly developed Trapezium X software it is also possible to analyse fast material changes in great detail.

The IG-1000 particle size measurement instrument will have its European premiere. It will be on display during the Control 2009 international trade in Stuttgart in Hall 1, stand 1629. Due to its patented particle size measuring system it is now, for the first time, possible to measure particles sizes between 0.5 – 200 nm.

An additional highlight is the HPV-2 high-speed camera, which features an imaging speed of up to one million frames per second (FPS) and is therefore one of the fastest cameras available in the world. Thanks to the USB2 connection, the new HPV-2 can be connected directly to a PC or laptop. And it is just as easy to synchronise up to four cameras. This enables the acquisition of three-dimensional images or images from four different viewing directions.
