Liquid Handling: Touch and Go - the Easy Pipetting Mode Selection
Mar 28 2006
For all routine and research works or long sample preparation series, the forward pipetting mode is most adequate. When pipetting small volumes, foaming or viscous liquids such as enzymes, the reverse mode is then recommended to enhance performance.
The stepper mode is the best choice for fast serial dispensing and / or in screening tests. Just select size and number of aliquots and go. If an application requires diluting samples and reagents, the dilution mode permits to aspirate up to three different liquids, each separated by an air bubble in the tip and, to deliver them in one shot.
Last but not least, the mixing mode can be activated after any pipetting step, to homogenize samples through repeat back and forth aspiration of the liquid for as long as required. Whatever the chosen mode, easiness and simplicity are always there. Four micro-models cover volumes from 0.5 to 1000 µL. Two macropipettes extend the range to 10 mL. Six instruments with 8- and 12-channel (0.5 to 350 µL) guarantee optimal sample transfer in microplates.
