Vacuum Control Package for Evaporation of High-Boiling Solvents

Jul 20 2011

For fine vacuum distillation with high-boiling solvents in most cases the required vacuum condition is specified, while the temperature is kept as variable process parameter. Fluctuating parameters can lead to difficulties in keeping the vacuum constant and therefore complicate the achievement of reproducible results. The new Vacuubrand control packages for rotary vane vacuum pumps allow significantly optimised or even automated evaporation processes and increased evaporation rates. The vacuum is kept nearly constant at the vacuum set point using a solenoid-operated vacuum valve. Therefore even solvent mixtures can be separated sufficiently. The user achieves improved results at minimised process time.

Vacuubrand offers two new vacuum control packages for small flange connection KF DN 16 or KF DN 25. The vacuum control packages are usable for single- and double-stage rotary vane pumps with pumping speed capacities according to the user’s requirements. The packages include all required components (except the pump itself). The vacuum controller CVC 3000 with chemically resistant fine vacuum sensor VSP 3000, a solenoid-operated vacuum valve, as well as required components for connection, can be adapted to existing or new rotary vane pumps. The controller regulates process vacuum on demand in the range from atmospheric pressure down to 10-3 mbar. The ceramics-embedded measuring element of the vacuum sensor VSP 3000 (Pirani-type) features outstanding chemical resistance as well as mechanical stability. Accidental sudden venting, which can damage the highly sensitive internal measuring filament of a traditional Pirani-sensor, doesn’t harm the new VSP 3000. Included in the control packages are the vacuum controller CVC 3000 with controller support for bench top use or mounting at support rods, the fine vacuum sensor VSP 3000, as well as a chemically resistant solenoid-operated vacuum valve VV-B 15C and a T-connector with corresponding small flange connections, required centering and clamping rings as well as a hose nozzle adapter.
