Sciex launches the Intabio ZT system at ASMS 2023

The Intabio ZT system from Sciex is a ground-breaking microfluidic chip-based platform which combines imaged capillary isoelectric focusing (icIEF) separation and UV detection, offering unparalleled integration with mass spectrometry (MS) identification on the ZenoTOF 7600 system. The Intabio ZT system empowers researchers to overcome challenges in early drug development and streamline the selection of promising drug candidates.

By leveraging the icIEF-UV/MS workflow, the Intabio ZT system enables rapid separation, quantitation, and identification of biopharmaceutical charge variants and their proteoforms. This integrated approach eliminates the guesswork associated with traditional methods, accelerating the characterisation process and enabling confident decision-making.

One of the key advantages of the Intabio ZT system is its ability to acquire data on charge isoforms for biopharmaceuticals in a matter of minutes, instead of weeks as previously required. This addresses a critical bottleneck in biopharmaceutical characterisation, where the lack of connectivity between cIEF and MS assays often hampers the timely identification of unknown peaks during early development stages. The Intabio ZT system's seamless integration with the Biologics Explorer software unlocks a new depth of information, enabling researchers to gain comprehensive insights into their biopharmaceutical samples.

Commenting on the launch, Dom Gostick, Vice President of Product Management at Sciex said: “We hear from customers the consistent need to identify developable molecules earlier in the process. To do so, we need multiple pieces of critical data up front. The Intabio ZT system provides mass information on charge variants that has the power to change protein therapeutic development by providing the comprehensive data needed to make quick and confident decisions on the developability of potential therapies,”
