A team from specialist healthcare company BTG completed the Trekfest Challenge held in  the Brecon Beacons, Wales last month  to raise £10,000 for Cancer Research UK.  The team’s fundraising page is located at: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/trekfest.A total of 46 employees from each of BTG’s four UK sites (London, Camberley, Farnham and West Wales), together with some family members and friends, aimed  to complete either a 54 mile route within 24 hours or a 29 mile route within 12 hours. The hike, which started and finished in Hope Valley encompassed the highest peaks in the Beacons and South Wales including Pen y Fan (886m), Corn Du (873m), Cribyn (795m) and Fan y Big (719m).

Louise Makin, CEO of BTG commented, “It is fantastic that so many of my colleagues have been inspired to participate in this tough challenge to raise money for Cancer Research UK. We have a number of products in our portfolio which are used in the management of patients with cancer so this is a very relevant charity for us to support.”

Francesca Tiller, Central Fundraising Manager at Cancer Research UK said prior to the event:  “We are very grateful to BTG for choosing to donate the money raised from Trekfest to Cancer Research UK and thank them all for their hard work this weekend. With no government funding we rely on donations from the general public and fundraisers just like this. Every penny raised by BTG staff will take us one step closer to achieving our vision of beating cancer sooner. We wish all those taking part in this event the best of luck.”
