Edax Inc has opened a new highly equipped demonstration laboratory within Ametek’s Bangalore, India, sales, service and support centre that significantly increases the availability of important materials characterisation technologies to scientists and microscopists around the region and across India.

The recently dedicated laboratory is co-located at Ametek Instruments India with other Ametek businesses such as Spectro Analytical Instruments, TMC and Taylor Hobson. The Edax facility houses a Zeiss Sigma VP Field Emission (FE) Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) equipped with an Edax Trident system that includes Octane Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) silicon drift detector (SDD), high-speed Hikari Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) camera and LEXS Wavelength Dispersive Spectrometry (WDS) detector.

“We are very pleased with our new Bangalore facility. It significantly expands our presence in India and reflects the growing importance of our Indian customer base,” noted Nick Grant, Vice President and General Manager for Ametek Materials Analysis. “By co-locating with other Ametek businesses, our customers gain greater access to Ametek scientists and engineers as well as experience a broader, more comprehensive range of analytical technologies at a single location.”

“The availability of this advanced level system is an exciting addition to our worldwide demonstration capabilities,” commented Tara Nylese, Global Applications Manager at Edax. “It is an important addition to the lineup of dedicated Edax facilities across the United States and in Europe and Asia, as well as the Edax systems located at many of our important partner electron microscope labs.

“The new facility allows Edax to stay at the leading edge of microanalysis and adds to our reputation as the technology leader. Our goal is to better understand the real world needs of our customers and to provide them with valuable and novel application solutions regardless of their location. The opening of this new lab further demonstrates the excellent progress we have made toward achieving that goal.”
