The Royal Microscopical Society, which offers a large programme of courses, seminars and conferences, is regularly reviewing the current Coronavirus virus situation with regard to event presentations, while following Government guidelines to ensure the health and safety of members, delegates, speakers, exhibitors and members of staff.
In line with recommendations, members of RMS staff are now working from home where possible and all meetings (including RMS Committee and Focused Interest Group meetings) and other events will take place ‘virtually’ until the end of May 2020. Events due to take place after this date will be regularly reviewed and updates will be provided.
A dedicated website is listing useful courses, webinars, lectures and other online resources.
The Society is also highlighting useful contact details offering advice for facility management during the current virus conditions. It is encouraging others to join the discussion on how to operate safely and help reduce the spread of Covid-19. This includes topics on effective instrument cleaning, an approach taken by the German BioImaging community and methods for operation and safe shutdown of cytometers for a prolonged period.
