Portable sampler for airborne PFAS analysis

24 Jun, 2026

The Air Sampler for PFAS FM4 from GL Sciences is the world's first innovative portable sampler that enables simultaneous collection and analysis of atmospheric particle and gas-type PFAS.

This application elutes atmospheric ionic and neutral PFAS in solvent after solid collection and contains information on analysis by GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS.

FM4 consists of an impactor and three types of collectors to efficiently collect PFAS present in particle and gas types. PFAS collected in each collector can be eluted with an organic solvent to comprehensively analyse PFAS in the atmosphere using GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS.

A newly developed newly developed activated carbon adsorbent (GAIAC) is used as a gas-type collector. Conventional activated carbon has problems such as complex pores and adsorption, but insufficient elution. GAIAC is an innovative adsorbent made of synthetic resin fibres and optimises pores and surface activity, enabling PFAS collection and elution.

For further details on GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS analysis conditions, check the application.
