Company news
A surgical robotics platform developed by Cornerstone Robotics has received regulatory approval in Europe and Singapore, supporting the company’s plans to expand adoption of robotic-assisted surgery across global healthcare markets.
The Sentire® Endoscopic Surgical System has achieved CE marking under the European Union Medical Device Regulation (MDR) and certification from Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA), enabling access to key markets in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
Designed for minimally invasive procedures across areas including general surgery, gynaecology, thoracic surgery and urology, the robotic platform combines surgical workflows with integrated engineering, imaging and software technologies.
“Achieving CE MDR and Singapore HSA certification represents an important milestone in bringing our surgical robotics technology to more healthcare markets,” said Professor Samuel Au, Founder and CEO of Cornerstone Robotics. “These approvals reflect the progress of our clinical validation programme and our commitment to working with healthcare providers to support the adoption of advanced surgical solutions.”
The regulatory milestones follow clinical evaluation and technology development activities in the UK and Asia. Since 2025, Cornerstone Robotics has worked with Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust to support clinical investigation of the system, generating real-world experience and data across multiple surgical specialties.
In Singapore, the company has expanded collaboration with local healthcare organisations, including the National Healthcare Group and Nanyang Technological University’s Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. The first Sentire® Surgical System was installed at Woodlands Hospital in 2026 to support system evaluation, surgical training and workflow assessment.
The approvals represent an important step towards wider clinical adoption of robotic-assisted surgery, where technologies aim to improve surgical precision, support complex procedures and enhance access to advanced techniques.
Cornerstone Robotics has developed the Sentire® Surgical System through an in-house research and development approach, supported by manufacturing capabilities in China and international operations. The company is continuing to expand partnerships with healthcare providers as it works towards broader deployment of its surgical robotics technology.
The growth of robotic-assisted surgery reflects increasing demand for advanced medical technologies that can support clinicians, improve procedural capabilities and address evolving healthcare needs worldwide.
