Mayo Clinic Labs invests in Pathology Asia to expand genomic diagnostics

19 Oct, 2026

Mayo Clinic Laboratories has announced a strategic investment and collaboration with Pathology Asia Holdings and its subsidiary, LifeStrands Genomics, to broaden access to advanced diagnostics and precision medicine across Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Mayo Clinic Laboratories and Pathology Asia Holdings (PAH) have strengthened their long-term relationship through an investment and collaboration intended to bring advanced diagnostic services closer to patients across the region.

The collaboration brings together Mayo Clinic Laboratories’ clinical and diagnostic expertise with PAH’s regional healthcare network, laboratory capabilities and knowledge of local markets. LifeStrands Genomics, PAH’s specialist genomics subsidiary, will play a central role in efforts to expand access to molecular and genomic tests and support their use in routine patient care.

Dr William Morice II, president and chief executive of Mayo Clinic Laboratories, has been appointed scientific adviser to PAH as part of the relationship.

Genomics is the study of an organism’s complete set of genetic material and will be a principal focus for the collaboration. Mayo Clinic Laboratories and LifeStrands Genomics will work together to broaden access to advanced molecular and genomic tests across the region. These tests can provide information to help clinicians identify genetic conditions, assess disease risk, establish diagnoses and plan treatment.

The organisations intend to help healthcare professionals incorporate clinically relevant genomic information into more personalised care. Precision medicine uses information about individual characteristics, which can include genetic variation, to guide decisions about disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

“Healthcare providers across Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand are increasingly seeking advanced diagnostic solutions to guide patient care,” said Morice.

“Our collaboration with PAH and LifeStrands Genomics reflects our commitment to a long-term strategic relationship that unites complementary strengths in laboratory diagnostics and genomics.

“Through this collaboration, we are bringing advanced diagnostic capabilities closer to patients and equipping healthcare providers with the insights needed to deliver personalised care,” he added.

PAH provides pathology and laboratory diagnostic services through operations in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Australia. Its network includes the diagnostic brands Innoquest, Singapore Diagnostics, TissuPath and Safework Health, alongside its specialist genomics businesses, LifeStrands Genomics and DNA Laboratories.

Through its network of internationally accredited laboratories, PAH provides pathology, molecular and genomic diagnostic services to healthcare professionals, hospitals and patients across the region. This regional presence provides a foundation for the collaboration’s intended expansion of access to specialist diagnostics.

LifeStrands Genomics is an Asia-Pacific clinical genomics company that comprises three specialist laboratories: LifeStrands Genomics Singapore, LifeStrands Genomics Australia and DNA Laboratories. Together, these laboratories provide advanced molecular and genomic tests for cancer care, reproductive health, inherited disorders and wellness.

The company operates through laboratories accredited by the College of American Pathologists and laboratories accredited to the International Organization for Standardization’s ISO 15189 standard.
