Partnership aims to advance real-world oncology research

11 Jul, 2026

Data4Life and Korea University Anam Hospital (KUAH) have formed a strategic partnership to strengthen oncology research by transforming routine clinical data into a standardised format for large-scale, collaborative studies.

The collaboration will see KUAH implement Data4Life's Data2Evidence platform to convert oncology records into the internationally recognised OMOP Common Data Model. Standardising the data will enable researchers to generate reproducible real-world evidence while supporting participation in federated international research networks without sharing sensitive patient data.

The project will initially focus on colorectal and breast cancer, using longitudinal clinical data to investigate treatment outcomes, disease progression and quality of care. The partners plan to extend the approach to additional tumour types as the programme develops.

By adopting a federated research model, patient data remain securely within the hospital while researchers can collaborate across institutions using harmonised datasets. The approach aims to improve interoperability, accelerate evidence generation and support more effective cancer research.

Dr Ben M.W. Illigens, CEO of Data4Life, said: "By transforming long-term clinical oncology data into the globally recognised OMOP standard, we can unlock its full potential and enable valuable clinical insights to contribute to international cancer research."

Data4Life is a non-profit digital health organisation that develops open-science solutions for real-world health data, supporting researchers, healthcare organisations and the pharmaceutical industry through data standardisation and evidence generation.
