Partnership to scale immunisation funding across Asia-Pacific

14 Jul, 2025

New alliance aims to strengthen vaccine access, climate resilience and health systems in 32 countries

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, have signed a new partnership to boost sustainable health financing across Asia and the Pacific. The agreement will support countries in expanding immunisation coverage, reinforcing health systems, and preparing for future pandemics.

With ADB scaling up its lending by an additional $100 billion over the next decade and Gavi entering its most ambitious five-year strategy, the timing is critical. The collaboration aims to help governments unlock capital and transition toward self-financing vaccine programmes, with tailored tools such as loan financing and technical support.

Gavi’s CEO Dr Sania Nishtar described the move as a vital step toward helping countries “build healthier and more resilient economies and societies.”
