G-Rex grant accelerates CAR-T manufacturing in India

Bengaluru-based Immuneel Therapeutics has secured a $150,000 G-Rex® Grant from ScaleReady to accelerate development of scalable, cost-effective CAR-T cell manufacturing in India. The award is part of ScaleReady’s broader initiative, delivered in partnership with Wilson Wolf Manufacturing, Bio-Techne Corporation, and CellReady, to support next-generation cell and gene therapy producers worldwide.

Immuneel will use the grant to transition to a G-Rex-based production platform at its 12,000 sq ft GMP facility in Bengaluru. The switch aims to significantly boost throughput and enable future commercial-scale manufacturing of CAR-T therapies, with production targets of nearly 200 drug products per day. The process development and validation work supported by the grant will also include comparability studies to facilitate post-approval manufacturing changes.

“With India facing nearly 120,000 new blood cancer cases annually, scalable CAR-T manufacturing is essential to improving access and outcomes,” said Dr Lakshmikanth Gandikota, Head of R&D at Immuneel. “G-Rex is a practical solution to help us meet growing patient demand and realise the full potential of our pipeline.”

The G-Rex Grant Program has awarded over 200 grants to date, with total funding recently expanded from $20 million to $30 million in response to global demand. Recipients receive financial support and technical guidance from a network of expert partners in GMP manufacturing, regulatory strategy, and CGT commercialisation.
