Featuring a single chip microcontroller and accurate to ± 1% of calibrated flow rates the lightweight 12-ounce FlowCal 5000 HPLC liquid flowmeter available from Tovatech supports FDA compliance for IQ, OQ and PQ validations on any HPLC pump. According to Tovatech Director, Dr Robert Sandor: "The FlowCal 5000 liquid flow meter is faster and more accurate than using timers while manually collecting fluid for gravimetric or volumetric measurement in calibrating HPLC pump flow rates. Flows from 0.05 to 25 millilitres per minute are independent of liquid type up to a 10 centipoise viscosity. Rates rounded to four digits are displayed on a backlit LCD while complete data rounded to a full 6-digit reading are output via a built-in RS232 interface." The FlowCal 5000 liquid flowmeter is shipped with a UKAS traceable calibration certificate at 1.0 millilitre per minute” or customers can specify standard 3-point  calibrations of 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 millilitres per minute, Dr Sandor said. He added: "On request we will calibrate the HPLC flow meter at user-specified flow rates within the unit"s 0.05 to 25 millilitres per minute operating range and

provide FDA required annual re-certifications." The HPLC liquid flow meter is designed for use at the end of the HPLC flow system. The package includes a mounting kit for freestanding (table), wall or stack mounting positions, or for mounting on standard wide-necked reagent bottles. Included is a carrying case and cleaning kit. An optional thermal printer is available. All wetted parts are made of PTFE, PEEK, DAI-EL, PERFLOUR or Pyrex to handle common HPLC solvents.
