HPLC
A major pharmaceutical company has invested in 17 SPR-200 solvent recycler units from Biotech Fluidics to support more sustainable use of solvents across its analytical HPLC laboratories.
Designed for compatibility with most HPLC systems, the SPR-200 continuously tracks detector output from liquid chromatography instruments and selectively recovers mobile phase during isocratic runs. In customer applications, the system has demonstrated solvent recovery of up to 90%, redirecting purified solvent into a dedicated reservoir for reuse.
As a standalone unit, the SPR-200 operates without the need for external computer control, helping to avoid potential connectivity issues with laboratory IT systems. Its independent design makes it straightforward to integrate into existing workflows.
Fritiof Pontén, CEO of Biotech Fluidics, said the system’s integrated LED display and membrane keypad allow users to configure operating parameters, monitor performance in real time, and generate an audit trail of recovered solvent.
He added that beyond improving laboratory sustainability, the SPR-200 can deliver rapid return on investment by significantly reducing solvent consumption in isocratic HPLC applications.
