Teknomek launches Hygienox 2.0
Teknomek has introduced an enhanced pricing option for its Hygienox range designed specifically for cleanrooms. Customers now have the choice to opt for premium furniture made from 316 grade stainless steel, or to upgrade to an even higher level of cleanliness with an ultra-smooth, electropolished option.
Hygienox furniture, which is crafted from high-quality 316 grade stainless steel, is ideal for ultra-sterile cleanroom environments where strict adherence to ISO 14644 standards is critical. The Hygienox range is specifically engineered to actively contribute to effective particle management and contamination control, aiding in efficient risk management practices.
Teknomek is known for their durable and long-lasting products. However, when it comes to ultra-sterile environments, they go the extra mile with their Hygienox furniture range. Designed with a thorough understanding of the rigorous cleaning processes involved in such environments, the Hygienox furniture range is built to provide a futureproof solution.
The entire range of furniture in Teknomek's Hygienox line, including tables and lecterns, is meticulously designed with cleanliness in mind. The corners are open and hygienic, eliminating overlapping joints, unnecessary lips, or double returns that can harbour dirt and particles. Tubular braces are used to minimise horizontal surfaces where particles can accumulate and multiply. All joints are welded and then sealed with non-shedding silicone, with careful pickling and polishing to remove any burn marks, ensuring a smooth and hygienic surface.
A notable feature of the Hygienox furniture range is the absence of plastic parts, further enhancing its hygiene credentials. Even the feet are manufactured from 316 stainless steel, known for its excellent corrosion resistance properties. For mobile options, specially commissioned castors are used, featuring a chemical resistant polypropylene wheel housed in a 316-grade stainless steel body. This meticulous attention to detail ensures that there are no opportunities for corrosion or contamination.
Hygienox products are exclusively crafted from 316 grade stainless steel due to the prevalent use of harsh sterilisation methods in pharmaceutical and microbiological research and manufacturing settings. Unlike 304 grade stainless steel, which lacks molybdenum, 316 grade stainless steel incorporates this element to enhance its corrosion resistance, ensuring increased durability and longevity.
“Anyone working within the cleanroom sector knows the importance of reducing contamination risk and supporting improved clean down productivity,” explained Michelle Locke, Product and Marketing Manager at Teknomek. “Hygienox furniture is manufactured from 316-grade stainless steel because it is more robust against pitting and crevice corrosion by chemicals, reducing the risk of rouging or tiger stripes caused by harsh cleaning protocols.”
But whilst all cleanrooms need furniture manufactured from 316 grade stainless steel, they do not all require an ultra-smooth, electropolished finish.
“Not all cleanrooms are the same, and many do not require the same degree of sterilisation,” continued Michelle Locke. “That means the electropolishing process can been an unnecessary cost. Our enhanced Hygienox range features all the same design and manufacturing benefits, making the products perfect for cleanrooms, but customers can now select not to have electropolishing if they do not need it.
“Electropolished stainless steel has a lower surface roughness, allowing for fewer microscopic grooves where harsh chemical cleaning fluids can lurk and corrode the furniture. For particular aseptic environments this will be a critical benefit whereas for others, it is simply not needed.”
Major investment in research, development and design has gone into all products in the Hygienox range to ensure that every element of every product is perfect for purpose, even down to the specially designed castors.
“At Teknomek, our aim is always to set the benchmark in performance products for hygienic environments,” continues Michelle Locke. “For our cleanroom customers, being able to trust that Teknomek has thought of every little detail when it comes to specialist furniture, is a fundamental benefit of working with us. Our Hygienox range addresses every possible risk factor, ensuring that customers can select the products they need without compromise.”
Teknomek takes pride in its open and transparent pricing policy, offering Hygienox products with readily available list prices. The entire Hygienox range features standard sizes, accompanied by clear pricing for both the standard 316 products and those with electropolishing. Additionally, customisation options are available to meet specific customer requirements, including fully bespoke design solutions.
